Watering frequency .
Sunlight requirements , kind of light direct or indirect .
Some popular indoor plants are Ficus, Monstera, snake plant known as mother-in-law’s tongue , Palms and philodendrons. There are begonias and African violets if you like flowering plants better.
It is suggested to keep each in a set of at least three plants, so you can rotate them for natural light outside and not to compromise on the look .
Most indoor plants flourish better in a temperature which is warm and comfortable for humans.
Majority of the outdoor plants, if provided with the right care, can be potted to transform into an indoor plant.

Thumbprint(poem by Eve Merriam,1916-1992)
On the pad of my thumb
are whorls.
Whirls, wheels
in a unique design:
mine alone.
What a treasure to own!
My own flesh, my own feelings.
No other, how ever grand or base,
can ever contain the same.
My signature,
thumbing the pages of my time.
My universe key,
my singularity.
Impress, implant, I am my self
of all my atom parts I am the sum.
And out of my blood and my brain
I make my own sun and rain.
Imprint my mark upon the world
what ever I shall become.

Eat Or Not To Eat?
Eat Or Not To Eat?
Health vs Convenience
Ideally we all want to believe that sixth grade nutrition class was enough for the rest of our lives, however new research keeps throwing new challenges at us.
Today's consumers are faced with more challenges than ever before.
Aisles full of products, then your taste buds are pressuring you, you go buy trolleys full of food items for your family to consume.
Then there is this ongoing debate between organic and nutritious… if all nutritious things are organic? Or are all organic foods nutritious?
Some people will go through life without even once to attempt to read ingredients list on any product, it is not every one’s forte to get into details of their next meal, However If you are a parent, a mother or anyone else who is usually responsible for your family's grocery and food related decisions then the burden is on you to choose the best quality food instead of the most popular creatively marketed one !
👉Moderation, and simplicity is the key to a balanced diet and health… There are few tips to make smart and healthy decisions without much stress.
👉Nutritionally wise say that if you think reading labels in a grocery store is too much work,… or if it strains your eyes,( as with many above forty, then stick to one rule instead of reading your food labels ”measure your ingredients label”, Shorter the list, safer it is! In other words it means fewer additives, less processing, so less damaging health effects.
👉Our food experts always tell us to follow the food pyramid, which discourages any one type of food in more than suggested servings…. Even an important component like carbohydrate, will turn into fat if used excessively….
Ten most Smart Grocery Shopping rules:
1.Try to buy groceries when it is less busy at the store.
2. Go alone avoid any hungry individuals as companions especially kids or ask them to make a list and stick to it.
3.Stay focused on your balanced food /grocery list, don't give in to impulse buying.
4.Go after eating a good meal it will stop you from craving and buying high calorie food, candy etc.
5.Look at the labels, consider their length(less word count is better in this case).
6.Consider distance as a warning, if food is prepared far from your city, country or even your continent most probably it has less nutrition and more shelf life… stay away.
7. Set a day or two a week (if really a sweet tooth) for desserts, instead of it being available in the freezer for any weak moments of cravings.
8. Stock up on fresh carrots, reddish and yogurt dips to avoid sugar cravings before they reach their peaks.
10. Always eat on time, delaying meals leads to more craving for fatty and sugar rich foods.

Are Deadlines Good or Bad for Us?
Are Deadlines Good or Bad for Us?
Writing projects..
I am striving to be a children's book writer.
Ideas keep flowing in my head all the time however nothing gets done unless there is a deadline to meet.
October 31st was the deadline for my last writing project( it sounds so impressive).
My first book got done in the same way, but this time it was not necessary to participate, and time was really short for this year's contest.
Subjects and themes were a lot more serious and defined too, but I still decided to take the challenge and to write on "Environment" with focus on Pakistan.
I felt if I do not do it this way it will never start or finish.... It seems like pressure works for me, I thrive on deadlines, at least it's done within the time, written , edited, printed and mailed and the results?
I will leave it on NBF and their choice of time to tell winners,
or not !

Barsaat , Ramzan and the Beanstalk !
Barsaat , Ramzan and the Beanstalk !
Plant Story.
As we are getting a good system of rainfall, it is cooling all Lahore and its outskirts too... So Ramadan got more easier to take now as one feels less thirsty when fasting.
This rain is there but not constant( which is a blessing considering our streets) most interesting part is when you see two very different sky few hours apart, from a very bright and sunny to its darkest grey and back again to sunny and bright...Rain is doing wonders for dry soil and plants all over.... and finally they caught up the speed and growing miraculously . I was amazed at the sudden growth of these plants in my yard. They almost grew overnight like beanstalk from the story "Jack and the Beanstalk".
Two weeks ago while anticipating Ramadan's arrival we were somewhat fearful of the heat and a difficult fasting month ahead. It was hot and humid and Sun was blazing hot most parts of the day even during our mornings hours were pretty hot.
Somehow Lesco and nature both became generous and merciful on us Lahorees and we had zero load shedding for few days to a reduced 4 hours and a lots of rain we are already feeling better!
Another Plant Rant
I am just amazed how some people are so good when
it comes to plants...and I am green, only with envy !
I always liked the blogs about gardens and plants and whenever I have some time to spare and simmer,
I will browse through these blogs and feel envious.... My frustration comes from my not being in control
of my little place which I would like to call a garden one day,...on my side of the world soil is very fertile
but expertise and DIY knowledge is limited.
Here we do not get to do all the hard work of keeping a garden ourselves however that takes us away
from our passion... one gets dependent on our so called 'Mali" ( means gardener, usually no more than
simple laborer without any knowledge about plants) I bring plants, vegetables, he ignores and
innocently let my precious plants die, it is a repeated scenario in our garden view, so due to
expectations from "Mali' to save and multiply my garden have been uprooted so many time now,
that I plan to have a smaller garden space to keep my control on landscape and the look or
at least maintain my kitchen garden all by myself...Let's see when this idea comes alive for now my gardening interest is strictly limited to garden blogs only.

Movie Review : The Pursuit Of Happyness - Video Clip
Movie Review
"The Pursuit of Happyness "|
Released 2006 / Drama
Story is based on Chris Gardner's autobiography about his struggle to become rich which makes it more motivational as it is a true story.
The tale is about a single father who had to do parenting alone at a time when he had to prove and innovate his worth in his professional life as well, he was homeless and unemployed.
Relationship between a father and son was carried out well, hiding in the bathroom scene to protect his kid from the fear of homelessness was heart touching.
Will Smith was amazing as usual. Many people, especially parents, were able to relate to the main character’s composure and conflict between his parenting demands and need for a career.

Respect ; Can You Demand or Teach it....
Either you live in East or belong to Western World, respect is a big issue,,,, specially for women.
When its all been done and decided from motivational speakers to self improvement lectures with slogans like,"10 ways to get what you want"?, and women magazine writing essays over essays "how to make him fall for you', or "get your respect back in your relationship"etc,..... however no one formula is still proven to be the right one.
To most of us we learn to "Respect" or appreciate things very early on in our life... some of it is unconscious, and learned with our environment... what our families, communities usually consider "respectable", we tend to follow that path unconsciously... and it is not very defined unless challenged or compared, but always works as our default value system for rest of our lives,
Other kind of learning to respect is conscious or reactive which is what you experienced, or observed , which makes one extremely inspired by someones conduct, as examples like family members , how they treat each other or in other case ,how they not treat each other can drive young mind to detest that behaviour , and do the opposite in their practical lives ahead..
How ever important point is to stop fretting about how to teach, or make someone to respect ... it is the "capacity and conditioning " which make one to treat others with respect, which usually has been set long time ago ...

The Thumbprint Life !
The Thumbprint Life
The ultimate question of “Qaza and Qadar”,
How much control do we have?
My blog Thumbprint Life was initially created at the time of a haze and awakening within my own life, it was more of an internal dialogue
it was mostly like a general comment on a passing day events, about little big things in everyday life like parenting, caregiving, relationship, gender roles and sometimes more thought provoking life events and sometimes for just pondering over more philosophical question;
Are there No limits on us human beings?
or
Are there some predetermined limits for us to marvel within the template?
Like a code is set on our Thumbprint !
How can Astrology, Numerology affect our lives and predict human behavior ?
or
Are personality disorders are disorders or just astrological profile decodes our psychological profiles?
Does our Environment matter ? Is it nature or nurture? or both?
I realized thinking is not bad for us, open mindedness and discussion bring solutions or at least clarity .
So I’m going to continue Thumbprint Life again as any dialogue is better than none !
